The carronades are black

New year, and some more progress on the carronades. They are all black by now. The sight and the royal cipher are back on, the truck base worked out and all the rings are fitted. Now only the V-shaped piece at the front to go.

Incidentally, the carronade sits loose on its bed. A small rod guides it along the rails, so that it can move forward and back. The axle it rests on I replaced with two tubes slid into one another, so that I could fit a pin head in there again. That gives the rounded boss at the axle. A nice effect, I thought.

For the truck base I also used pin heads, for the effect of round bolt heads. The same trick as earlier with the washers on the gun carriages: at this scale a pin makes a fine bolt, and its head a fine bolt head.
