Binnacle on deck
The ropes for fixing the binnacle to the deck are in the making too. I had actually wanted to make small hooks on them and hook those to rings on the deck, but then I would have had to make the rings even smaller, and they’re already teeny-tiny. Anyway, to quote Sjors: it’s another nice detail. The chimney on the roof is on by now as well.

Hooray, another little project done. The binnacle stands on deck, between the grating and the ship’s wheel. I’m happy with the colour and with the overall look. Stephan thought the proportions were right too.

It can still come off, in case anyone is wondering why there are ropes on it that you can’t undo. Those hooks unfortunately didn’t work out, so I haven’t glued the small rings into the binnacle. If I still want to remove the binnacle, I can. The compass and the lantern can even still come out, because the top still sits loose. It sort of drops in. How else would you light the lantern?

Now to get the instructions out again, because I think they’ve been in the cupboard for three months already.
