All parts finished
All parts are finished. The loose parts have gone into Osmo oil. That has to dry, and then once more. So now a little patience.

For the look of it I have put the whole thing together loosely. It’s still a bit wobbly, since nothing is glued, but it gives a first idea of the end result.

I’m still in two minds about making it so the wheel can turn. Then I would have to leave the pins of the barrel loose in the stanchions, and whether that is sturdy enough I don’t know. I can still glue them. Stephan would let it move if at all possible: every extra makes it that bit more special. Herby63 came up with a good one: if the view along the aft side is restricted, for instance because there’s a mast behind it, you can turn the aft wheel around, so that there too the side with the ten-piece rim faces forward. I’ll check how that sits before I assemble the whole thing.
It took some effort, but it worked. Without Stephan’s tips about the description and the needle files, which I have used a great deal by now, it wouldn’t have. So many thanks to everyone for all the help.
