After the summer: second rail, capstan and a display stand
It has been far too long since I wrote anything here, but then there was not much progress over the summer either. With the model builders’ day coming up, I have picked the Diana up again.
The progress consists first of all of the second rail. With that, both rails are in place aft on the deck.

I have also scratch-built the capstan for the upper deck. Not because I thought the one from the kit was ugly, but simply because I enjoyed doing it. It is made of oak. Since it was going to be painted red anyway, or so I thought, the choice of timber did not matter much.

And I have finally made a decent display stand. It is walnut, because the hull is too, and finished with Osmo gloss oil. A stand like this was needed to show the Diana off reasonably well on the model builders’ day, as the other thing looked rather shabby. I had picked up the wood on Marktplaats a year ago, so it was about time.
