Gratings on the upper deck
Started on the gratings on the upper deck. Oddly enough, the manual says the gratings here should get a coaming of 2x2 mm. In the photo that is the grating on the right. I prefer the one on the left myself, so that is what I chose. I did wonder why the manual assumes 2x2 mm, and whether there is any reason to assume the gratings should stand proud of the coaming.

Stephan gave the down-to-earth sum: multiply the height by 64 and see whether it is realistic. 2 mm gives 12 cm in reality, 4 mm 24 cm. He didn’t think gratings stood more than ten centimetres or so above the deck.
I read up on it once more. The hatches or gratings were indeed sometimes 12 inches high, but only on the gun deck, about 4 mm at my scale. The reason: more water came in through the gunports, so the gratings had to be higher there. On the upper deck they were lower. I also read that the gratings have a camber along the length of the ship. I have now built that camber in, and in doing so reduced the height of the grating as well.

Herby63 had the feeling that the camber of the gratings matches the camber of the deck they sit on, and so runs across the width rather than along the length. I based mine on the text and the photo below. As for the camber, I think he is right that it could be a bit more subtle, although in the photo it does look a little more than the camber of the deck. As for direction, it seems to me the camber should follow the camber of the deck, so along the length of the ship. But perhaps that is what Herby meant too. Now for the rest.
