Pintles and gudgeons with nails
Another small question for the forum. I have glued the first pintle strap onto the rudder. Now it seems to me that nails should go into the pre-punched holes after all. Because I copy Piet so closely, however, I began to doubt: Piet did not do it on his model. But then when I read the description on his website of how to make your own pintles and gudgeons, he does use nails there. Are the holes there instead of the nails, so I do not wreck the straps, or precisely as a template to make holes in the rudder easily?

Hans was quick to settle it: the pintles and gudgeons were most certainly fixed with nails, and the nail heads sit nicely in the hole, so it gives a good effect. That is what I thought too. So, do it.
Done, the nails are in. Went remarkably easily actually, and it looks fine as far as I am concerned.

Piet later explained my confusion: in the photos in his log there are no nails in the pintles and gudgeons because he did not have them at the time. They were only put in once the model was completely finished, which is why the photos of them are missing. But the nails do simply belong there.
Edwin1966 wrote that he wants to read this build from the very beginning some time. I am still a beginner, so the nice thing about the log is that you find all the mistakes in it as well. I have had to redo quite a few things.
