After a long break: the side steps
After a long time, finally back to work on Diana. She has been standing still for nearly six months since the end of March, and the forum gave me a friendly welcome back. Good to see that people are still following along.
Today I did the steps on the starboard side. Still a bit of a fiddle. I had used the full-size drawings to measure the distance from the steps to the gunports. That distance was right, but unfortunately the actual steps were half a centimetre longer than on the drawing. So it did not work out at all. I removed the rails again and shifted the fenders a little to the right, so the steps fit between them. I gave the steps the colour of the background, so they do not stand out.

Piet had good news: he is going to finish the log of his Diana on his own website. On the forum he can no longer edit his old posts and some of the photos there have disappeared, whereas on his website he is in charge. I still study his photos at length before every step, and I had been dreading the moment that would no longer be possible. So it is wonderful that he is going to post photos with commentary there daily. I will certainly find them.
