Port closed, starboard started
After a long time, finally back to the planking. The first side of the underwater hull is now closed.

In the end the copper plates go over this. So I’ve decided not to fill every little seam below the waterline as I did above the wale, because none of it will be visible later anyway.
At the sternpost I still had to use four stealers to get everything closed. But you see very little of that.

The other side tackled differently
The next day I started on the starboard side. That side I’m tackling slightly differently. I’ve now divided the hull into four equal belts and work with seven planks per belt. So I calculate the taper per belt as well. Previously I did that for the whole hull, but that didn’t always work out well, as the clinker effect in May showed. Now let’s see whether it goes better this way.

Aft I’ve used one stealer again, just as on the port side. It’s hard to see in the photo because both planks are the same colour.
